Who are you all?
Lee, leader singer and bassist, Charlie lead guitarist, Charlotte, drummer.

How do you describe your sound?
We’d describe our sound as quite punk with a bit of 60s garage, metal and
grunge mixed in.

How did you meet?
All friends of friends. Charlotte was
working in a shop and we found out she was a drummer and asked her to join.

Why did you decide to form a band and where did the name come from?
There aren’t that many girl bands around at the moment. We like the Riot Grrrl movement that was around in the 90s. We were looking for something with Grrrl spelt like the riot grrrl spelling in the title and Charlotte just came up with the name one day during practice.

Is fashion and image important to you as a band?
We wear dresses, that’s our thing. We want to have this really girlie persona but play really rock and roll punk music and be quite the opposite of how we look. There’s nobody in particular we look up to, we just tend to follow our own fashions.

So where do you see the band going and do you want to be famous?
We’re just doing it for the fun of it. The
music is really important though and it would be nice to be famous…as long as it didn’t go to our heads!

What do you think about girl bands around at the moment?
Bands like Girls Aloud, I think they’re very good for a certain generation of younger girls and they are something to look up to but they’re usually manufactured. We wanna play from the heart. You don’t see many girl guitarists and drummers and there aren’t any all girl bands who play
instruments too.

Do you write all your own songs?
Yes we all write them. We tend to choose from all the lyrics we’ve done and then fit them with a riff or baseline and that always seems to work. My lyrics (Lee) tend to be quite complicated but I like singing them because they relate to me.

Where would you like to be a year from now?
Gigging around Yorkshire. Get a bigger fan base and get to know more people in different bands and make new friends.

How are your parents about the band?
We have this joke because unlike what you normally hear, all our parents are
really supportive. It’s not like, ‘my parents told me to turn my music down’, I got my musical influences from my parents (Lee).

Who would you like to work with musically?
Everybody…from rap music to whatever to broaden our musical horizons.

Are you releasing any music?
We’ve got a demo CD and we’re going to do a live album soon.
