In 2004, she was commissioned by Hull Truck Theatre to write a play for young people. She chose to write about the struggles of teenaged dads and FATHERS 2B was performed in 2005. This emotionally charged play was met with critical acclaim and she followed this with the humorous and fun play GAME BOYS AND CONSOLE CUTIES in 2006.
In 2006 Morgan was chosen to be one of 'The 50' by the Royal Court Theatre. This means that she is one of the 50 most promising playwrights in the UK.
She is now developing a play for radio and she is also working on her first novel for teenagers.
"I don’t think there are any secrets to being a good writer except perhaps to find the style you’re comfortable with. The way you speak and think is unique and this applies to your writing too. I’ve always tried to write authentic dialogue. This means really listening to how people speak. Also, read. Read anything. Read everything. The more you’ve read of other people’s work the more prepared you’ll be when you begin to write. So, my two top tips for writing are: listen lots and read lots".
Happy writing

Try Morgan's writing exercise...
I can’t write without music. It helps me to create a theme, a world, or an emotion. A long time ago writers had muses who were ghostly girls dying of consumption, now a days people like me gain inspiration from the songs of Eminem, Amy Winehouse and The Arctic Monkeys.
So for this exercise I want you to choose a song. Any song, any style, and start to write a first person story or monologue based on the lyrics, the rhythm, the feeling that the song creates. If you are writing in a group why not all choose the same song and see how different your interpretations become? Your results will be unique because nobody in the room heard the song how you heard it.
