The Spider
The spider is a timebomb,
Concealed in its own transparent web.
It exists in its own bespoke world.
Interlocked vines disguise its intricate home.
It waits-
A unique moment!
Insects wander along,
It scurries and scatters until it captures its food.
The bomb goes off!
. . . . . . . . . . .
Glass in Motion
The glass sites – patiently.
Red liquid stains its perfect curved body.
A shudder – a sudden shake.
The glass catapults off the shelf and then,
Hits the floor with a crack!
Its stains splash to the floor,
The wonderful curves dissected.
It is smashed.
The Glass.

Young Writers’ Workshop
Libraries - dull and quiet. Full of bookworms, mad professors and snotty people who take
great pleasure in ‘shushing’ every soul that makes the slightest sound.
All of the above is correct, except for one thing...
When the clock strikes five and Beverley walks through the door, the room explodes with
colours. The tatty old books transform into marvellous masterpieces written by the finest
authors and the entire library scintillates.
Smiley, talented, friendly faces transform Sheffield City Library from zero to primo.
A world of writing, thinking, learning and imagination awaits.
Let your imagination run wild and excel yourself as far as you can go - learn about different
writing styles and techniques...
From weird and wacky, gruesome and great, boring and brilliant to poetry and prose. The
young writers’ workshop takes you on an unpredictable journey through poems, stories,
publishing and prose.
Wander through witches’ tales, gasp at glorious ghost stories and play on poetry.
Budding authors beware: the young writers are coming!
