Air

Ssh.
Whisper.
Remember your speech
Sounding like this.
Weighted, precise.
Use your whisper.
Tie knots in its threads.
Pause, rethink.
Use compasses, and a ruler.
Let your artful words
Linger in my head.
Carefully powerful
Made in breath
Powerfully careful.

Let’s shout at each other
When all words and meanings collapse
Let’s blindly yell uncrafted scribbles.
Nothing human, nothing intelligent works
Let’s spew deafening NOISE.
Claw me with blasts of your splintering throat.
It stops me forgetting.

Once we were heroes
Aloof, I lead cavalcades
Now I shed rust tears

We crashed the music
Drumbeats dried with tinny words
Riffs peel out of keys

Winter haiku

The greyness draws in
Only to spread itself out
As the year rebounds.
